Search Va. Court Opinions

Using this search mechanism, you are able to find key words and phrases in Commission cases issued after 1995 and as many cases since 1990 that were electronically transcribed. We have recently included the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological cases. When searching for these particular cases, please include in your criteria the words, "Birth-Related". We will be updating the opinion data base regularly so you will be able to access opinions within a few days of their release. See additional information about searches below.

Help using word processor display option

We hope to enlarge the database to include workers compensation opinions from the Court of Appeals and The Supreme Court. Right now, you can access their opinions by clicking on the link to the left.

Shown above are the six most frequently used methods of searching. We encourage you to read the help information that is available by clicking on the link located on the left side of this page to learn about other ways to search the opinions.

The last option is to display the documents in word processing software on your computer. Additional information is available on this option by clicking the "Help" button to the right of the option.

We also hope that you will help us improve this site by writing the webmaster@vwc.state.va.us with your comments and suggestions.

Please also tell us if you encounter any difficulty in using the search engine We know that for 1999 opinions, apostrophes appear as question marks. So, "Bill's truck" appears as "Bill?s truck". This is a system problem and the search engine developer will correct it soon.
